A Avon Representative Can Establishing A Routine By Scheduling In The Time Management System For Avon Representatives

This is the 8th post in the series on my Time Management System for Avon Representatives. Today, I will discuss how scheduling your time will give you a routine which will make you more productive and effective.

So far in this series on a Time Management System for Avon Representatives we have looked at priorities and goals in the Eisenhower matrix of important, urgent. This method defines what you most aspire to do with your time. And what you need to do the most. Scheduling is where you take these aspirations and place them in the available time you have.

When scheduling your time you should look at the time available to you, and plan how you will use it to achieve the goals you have identified. By using a schedule properly, you can:

1. Understand what you can realistically achieve with your time.

2. Plan to make the best use of the time available.

3. Leave enough time for things you absolutely must do.

4. Preserve contingency time to handle 'the unexpected'.

5. Minimize stress by avoiding over-commitment to yourself and others.

Scheduling your time makes you more productive and reduces your stress. If you do not have enough time to do everything you want, you need to make priorities and schedule these tasks.

A calendar, like I use, a personal organizer or any other of the many devices you can use for time management will make sure you do the things that are most important.

Using a weekly schedule will also add value to your personal life and your Avon Representative business. Commit to a schedule and you will increase your effectiveness.

How To Schedule Time

1. Identify the time you have available to you for your Avon Representative business.

2. Put in the activities you must do. Fill in appointments and projects, such as labeling and tossing books.

3. Review your schedule and schedule in high priority activities. Allow 50% extra time for interruptions and emergencies that can not be avoided.

4. What you have left is the time you can choose to work on the lower priority items. You may find there are days you do not have any time for these activities.

The objection that many Avon Representatives make to scheduling is that it cuts into their freedom. While it is true it takes away from spontaneity, you are not a slave to time.

Don’t restrict yourself to a definition of freedom as “the ability to do what I want, when I want.” An Avon Representative can not hope to achieve their goals without discipline.

Some Guidelines To Follow

Be realistic when scheduling--A schedule is not a wish list, but a guide to help you plan your time. Don’t get discouraged and give up.

Be flexible in following your schedule--Sometimes you will be required to go outside of it.

Look at your schedule every week--Look over your schedule every week to see how well it’s working for you and how realistic it is. You may need to revise it.

A weekly schedule will allow you to maintain a sense of balance in your life. Creating a weekly schedule will let you have a rhythm. If you have a routine, you will more than likely remember appointments and projects by blocking out time periods. A weekly schedule will help you stay accountable to your short-term and long-term goals.

In the next in the series on my Time Management System for Avon Representatives. I will cover the importance of using a daily planner. And how to use it.

Is this post on how and why a Avon Representative should schedule their time a concept you will put into action? If not, why?

5 Reasons For A Avon Representative To Learn The Skills In The Time Management System For Avon Representatives

This is the 7th post in the series on my Time Management System for Avon Representative. Today, I want to go back over and review the reasons it is important to learn time management skills so you can keep them in mind during this long series of posts.

Are you a Avon Representative that has a problem with time management? If you are, there are two main paths you can take. The first, and often most popular, is to continue on with your normal activities. However, when you do this you may have a negative impact on your personal and business lives. The second, is to make a change. This is what you are doing by reading these posts in my Time Management System for Avon Representatives.

To improve your time management skills, there are a number of different concepts to be learned: goal setting, to-do lists, limiting tasking, and prioritizing, just to name a few. As for why a Avon Representative should learn and practice proper time management, there are a number of reasons why. I will outline 5 here.

1. It Is Easy To Do

The concepts I am teaching are all easy and cost effective ways. For example, creating goals or a to-do lists for yourself is free of charge. Since it is easy for you to learn and practice proper time management techniques, why wouldn‘t you?

2. It Is Important To Your Personal Life

If you are a Avon Representative who regularly pays their bills late or don’t make contact with friends, you may be hurting your personal relationships. Often in many more ways than you could have ever imagined. Friends, spouses, and romantic partners are not likely to put up with your behavior for long.

3. It Is Important For Your Avon business

Poor time management will not only have a negative effect on your personal life, but your Avon business will suffer as well. If you can not properly manage your time, you may get easily distracted. This may result in you wasting the time that you need to be prospecting or selling. Doing this repeatedly and your pocket book will suffer.

4. You Can Only Benefit

Taking the time to learn and practice successful time management techniques can only benefit you, your work, and your personal relationships. Since I am giving the Time Management System for Avon Representatives to you for free, no money needs to be spent. You have nothing to lose. And everything to gain. Also, ask yourself “why not?” Why not improve your life with the learning and practicing of time management skills?

5. Look At What You Have

It is important to focus on the skills and tools you have when trying to learn and practice proper time management. Once again creating a to-do list or scheduling your day is easy and free to do. Alarm clocks and egg timers can also be used to help you control your use of your time. I’m sure you already have a traditional alarm. But remember: your cell phone, computer, and television may also come with alarm clocks as well.

Furthermore, there are a many other time management tools and techniques, which I will cover, that you can easily learn and practice from my Time Management System for Avon Representatives. All from the comfort of your own home. And more importantly, when you feel you have free time to learn about time.

Do these seem like good reasons to read these blog posts? Will you come back for more? Why or why not?

A Time Mangement And Goal Setting Website For Avon Representatives

I tryed to put up the next post in my Time  Management System For Avon Representatives but it was all mess up. So I have decided to do a suggest to you a website on time management and goal setting. These are areas of great interest to me. I am launching 2 new blogs on March 15, 2011. One on goal setting and one on time management, both will be for business women.

Time-Management-Guide.com is a very informative site that cover many areas of time management including; Finding Time, Goal Setting, Critical Skills, Procrastination, Team Work and Much More.

On the page dedicated to Effective meeting basics they state:

"An effective meeting is a business meeting that serves certain desired purposes in an optimal way. While meetings are among the core tools for making things happen in any organizations, they often consume too much time and resources."

This quote shows they cover the good and bad of the topic.

Look this site over and comment letting me know if it was helpful to you.

I would also like to give you a website where you can get blank templates to help you manage your time more effectively. I mentioned in my last post you should keep a folder or binder for your personal time management documents.

The First Step In The Time Management System For Avon Representatives: Goal Setting

This is the 2nd article in the post series on a Time Management System for Avon Representatives. Here we cover the first step of effective time management: goal setting.

Being able to manage your time can have a huge impact on a Avon Representative’s work. Good time management means getting more done in your day. And a Avon Representatives has many areas to cover in their day between their Avon business, their family and the never ending search for private time. Following my Time Management System for Avon Representatives you will be able to earn more during the hours you choose to work.

Hopefully you started a time log and you are starting to have an idea of how you spend your time. Once you have an idea of when your most productive time of day is, block out 1 hour blocks during that time. Schedule all appointments and meetings in these blocks first. Then fill in with the most important work.

We can now move to the first step in my system, goal setting. Why is goal setting so important in the Time Management System for Avon Representatives? From the time management perspective, an Avon Representative’s life is a series of big and small choices, and decisions that have to be made.

You must be able to balance your time in the best possible way to achieve your goals. Most Avon Representatives fail at their goals because of lack of time. By planning, delegating, organizing and controlling at least 1 hour in your day you will create a effective time management system.

The Guide To Goal Setting

You can't achieve a goal unless you know what exactly a goal is. A goal is deciding what you want to get done and a plan to get the result you desire. Goals are active. Business goals follow the same rules as personal goals. They need to be relevant, have a call to action plan and be achievable.

Now is the time to create a Business Action Plan, which will provide your business with a direction to go in during the coming year. You should include a Vision Statement, a Mission Statement, and specific goals that will help you put your plan into action.

First you need to set your goals, the power of setting goals has the ability to motivate us. Your goals should be challenging in some way, and a Vision Statement is a good way to challenge yourself. It should provide inspiration for daily activities and contain your most crucial decisions.

Secondly, we must stay focused on our goals. Therefore, you should make goal setting a part of your everyday routine, this will increase your likelihood of achieving your goals. Lastly, we must keep our goals consistent, and we need to always be sure that our goals do not contradict or under mind each other.

Once you have your goals, you are in a better position to present yourself and your company to your customers and prospects. You can clearly state exactly "who I am" and "what I can do". And because you are now on a defined course, you will know what you need to accomplish.

In Addition

By setting goals on a daily basis, you decide what you want to accomplish. And then make an action or step by step plan to achieve goals. Setting good goals will raise your self-confidence. You will ultimately be able to tackle more difficult goals.

A Avon Representative must write their goals down on paper. The act of writing will focus you. And your dreams will be grounded into reality. Avon Representatives should also keep reworking their goals every night and keep them within arm’s reach during the day. To do this, review goals often and make a folder or binder labeled goals. The more you focus your goals, the faster you will achieve them.

In the next post for this blog, I will cover how to break goals down into smaller tasks and the importance of doing this in the Time Management System for Avon Representatives.

Share your comments on goal setting with me. What are you goals and what plans do you have in action to achieve them.

Why A Avon Representative Should Keep A Time Log

I have some questions for you Avon Representatives. Are you using your best time on the most important things. How could you spend your time in a better way? Getting a realistic picture of your time will help you to be more in control of your Avon business.

 It’s a common belief that an effective executive follows three steps when trying to manage their time better;

1. They analyze the way that use their time and think about ways that they could use it better.

2. They fined wasteful and unproductive uses of their time and reduce the systematically.

3. They consolidate their time into large chunks that they can use to do the must important work.

To do step one you need to keep a record of your time. I asked you to do this in the post “What Are You Doing With Your Day Avon Representative. A Time Management Activity”.

You start by keeping a time log. Through out the day you write down exactly how much time you are spending on each activity. At the end of the day you will go back over the log to see if you spent it effectively.

After keeping a time log for a few days most people are really surprised by how they are actually using their time. And how much time they are wasting on unproductive busy work and distractions. Another surprise is how long it really takes to complete things.

You should keep a time log for a week to get a good sample of how you spend your typical day and what parts of the day are your most productive time. When you have a better understanding of how you go about your typical day you will see where you are wasting time on unimportant activities and tasks.

At the end of the week go over and circle all the wasteful uses of your time. You can than figure out ways to reduce or eliminate them or out-sources them.

The next step is to go over the time log and decide which activities and tasks you should be spending your time on. You can also identify and write down projects you COULD be doing with your time. By doing this you will reduce the wasteful by starving them of your time and focus. It will shift your attention to the important and urgent things.

Now you can consolidate your time into large chunks that you can use for the most important things that you must do. This is very important because most people need a large chunk of time to do work that is most effective and productive. And also creative and knowledge full.

Knowledge work requires you to have a mental context to do the work. In order to be productive, and for the proper mental context to form can take as much as 10 minutes. If you only work on a project for 15-20 minutes and you have to stop to work on something else, you are never getting into your productive groove. You will in a fact produce inefficient work.

Decide how much time you need for each activity or task and plan to spend 1 hour blocks though out the day or each day. On each of these think of them as appointments or meetings. Then let all the other things fall into your schedule.

This is not a boring exercise, a few minutes of writing down this information each day for a week will in the end eliminate hours of wasted time.

Introducing A Time Management System For Avon Representatives

Time is the most unique resource an Avon Representative has. Each day every Avon Representative has the same amount of time. It can not be accumulated, replaced, and you can’t turn it on or off. Each one of us has to spend it in the rate of sixty seconds every minute.

To understand time as a resource we must first analysis it. And then plan it everyday. It is a personal process. We all have our own personal process and style. If you follow along with me I hope to start you on a path to living a life that’s more free. Free of stress, frustration and burnout.

I need help with my time management skills and have decided to do a series of posts on  a time management system for Avon Representatives. What I have found is this will also help with goal setting skills. I have done a post asking you to keep a record of your activities each day on Tuesday Feb. 1, 2011 called “What Are You Doing With Your Day Avon Representative. A Time Management Activity”. But on Monday Feb. 14, 2011 I will do a in depth with a post on keeping a time log.

The objects of these posts are for you and I to learn:
To determine how you presently use time.

To make you aware of the portion of time you have control over.

To teach you how to make the most efficient use of your time.

To help you manage the time you can not control.

To teach you skills to make the most of your time.

To learn how to stop procrastination.

To effectively use lists and planners.
To effectively set priorities/goals and follow an action plan.

Time management is a subject that has been written about and taught over countless number of years. But the reality is time can not be managed. It is a misnomer and it progress at 60 seconds per minute, 60 minutes per hour and 24 hours per day. We all have to play by the same rules. You do not manage time, you mange yourself. The posts in this series will help you and I better manage ourselves and our Avon Representative’s businesses.

If You Are Going To Give, Give To Those With No Voice

What’s a good reason to give to a charity? Do think that “everybody else gives, they don’t need my help“? No! Not everyone is giving and everyday a dog goes hungry and a child sits in a hospital with nothing to look forward to.

Charities cover a wide range of issues and causes. There are charities for family planning, AIDS, animal protection, human rights, and cancer, just to name a few. People give to charities for various reasons, including personal reasons, religion and for a tax incentives.

I have chosen to include 2 charities on my blogs “Diary Of A Mad Avon Lady” and “A Business Woman” Story, The Art of Elysium and spcaLA. Both are very near and dear to my heart. They deal with the 3 things I love the most, children, the arts and animals.

The Art of Elysium encourages working actors, artists and musicians to voluntarily dedicate their time and talent to children who are battling serious medical conditions. They provide artistic workshops in the following disciplines: acting, art, comedy, fashion, music, radio, songwriting and creative writing.

spcaLA believes that animals, as living creatures, have value beyond economic measurement, and are entitled to legal, moral and ethical consideration and protection. spcaLA is not affiliated with any other "SPCA" or humane society. And do not receive any support from either of these agencies.

Both are non-profit and very worthy causes. Thank you for reading this post, and if you decide give, thank you from me, the children, and all those animals who can speak for themselves.

Eliminate Credit Card Debt In 15 Minutes

Business Success Tip

Like many Americans, some Avon Representatives need help paying off debt. A recent survey by Better Homes and Gardens found:

60.3% are looking to save more, pay down debt, and budget better.

In order to have a successful business you need to know how to manage money in your personal life to be a success in your business.

Here is Some Tips for Paying Off Debt

From the Book “Self Magazine’s 15 Minutes To Your Best Self

Learn How To Free Yourself From Credit Card Debt
Take 2 Minutes To:

1. Stop using your Credit Cards.
Cut them up if you have to, but defiantly cut yourself off. It’s best to only have one and use it only for emergencies.

2. Know what you are facing. Make a chart listing the amounts you owe, interest rates, minimum payment due and customer service number.

3. Get a better rate. Interest matters. If you have a credit card balance of 10,000 with a 15% interest rate, you are paying an extra 1,500 a year in interest alone.

Call each card and ask for a lower rate. If they won’t work with you, transfer the balance to a new card with a lower interest rate (zero if you can). Go to CardWeb.com and research rates.

4. Pay more. Take the card with the highest rate and figure out how much you can spare a month beyond the minimum payment.
Paying off $10,000 at $300 a month instead of $200 can cut your debt repayment by nearly 3 years. See BankRate.com to run the number.
